Sun Tracks
The track of the sun
across the sky
leaves its shining message,
Illuminating,
Strengthening,
Warming us who are here,
Showing us we are not alone,
we are yet ALIVE!
And this fire…
Our fire…
Shall not die.
─ A traditional Choctaw Sun Prayer, filled with wisdom and mindfulness we can still benefit from today. Thank you to ALL the ancestors who have come before us and to all the future ancestors who will walk long after us.
A small pause and acknowledgement can quickly bring in a greater sense of awe, well being and gratitude, when we take a moment to comprehend the existence of this yellow dwarf star that is creating another bright day on our beloved home planet.
Without the light of the sun, life on Earth would cease to exist. Our ancestors were closely connected to this simple truth on a daily basis, but we modern humans often forget to notice the larger cosmic dance that makes each breath we take, the very gift of physical life itself possible.
Maybe it’s time for us to remember? Starting with a simple short prayer, affirmation or statement of authentic gratitude. We might be surprised to discover how this small practice, over time, completing transforms our experience with life.
